The Youth Organisation of the “Moldova Noastra” Alliance party (OT AMN) accuses authorities of blocking the process of opening Romania’s consulates in Balti and Cahul, on the motive that the government party sees them as real Europeanization centres for Moldova. The accusations are brought via a statement of the organisation – “Communists premeditatedly block the facilitation of Romanian visas for Moldovan citizens” sent on Saturday January 6 to Info-Prim Neo.
According to the cited document, OT AMN expresses its dissatisfaction with this attitude of the Moldova’s leadership, which scoff at their citizens, hampering the facilitation of the visa obtaining process for Romania after it has joined the European Union. Moldovan citizens need visas in order to pass the western border, regardless of the fact if the destination is the neighbouring country or another one.
The two states, divided by the Prut River, have close and complex relations which determine hundreds of thousands of Moldovans to travel to Romania. This necessity is transformed into a great problem in light of the ignorance of the authorities from Chisinau. The example and the proof is the huge queue at the single consular office of Romania. The staff of the mission forecasted the difficulties, and Romanian authorities requested in due time the agreement of the Moldovan part to open other two consular sections of Romania in Balti and Cahul. The lack of reaction from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration as well as explanations stating that the examining procedure requires time, proves the bad intention of the communist authorities, the statement says.
According to the authors, the attempt to avoid the extension of diplomatic services of Romania in Moldova is obvious. This way, the government diminishes the chances of its own citizens to circulate and integrate in the European space, including via obtaining the Romanian citizenship, which is the equivalent of the European citizenship since January 1, 2007.
OT AMN warns the Delegation of the European Commission in Chisinau and the diplomatic representatives of all the EU member-states in Chisinau about the deliberate tergiversation concerning the opening of the 2 Romanian consulates and considers this fact as a proof of communists’ reticence as regards Romania as well as the Europe.
