Only the success in what concerns combating corruption, reduction of poverty and economic growth as well as the sustainable increase of human resource will offer Moldova real chances to obtain full assistance from the “Millennium Challenge Account” Fund, the Ambassador of USA to Moldova, Michael D. Kirby stated at the meeting of the deputy chairman of “Millennium Challenge” Corporation, Maureen Harrington with the president Vladimir Voronin. In this context, the American official expressed her hope that Moldova will succeed in implementing the preliminary programme and settling the Transnistrian dispute, so that when the full assistance is provided by the Fund, all the population of the country could benefit from it. According to a press release of the Presidency, the head of state emphasized the importance of the collaboration within the frameworks of “Millennium Challenge Account” Programme, in light of the implementation of the preliminary programme and drawing up the full plan, the acceptance of which would allow Moldova to benefit from the full assistance of “The Millennium Challenge Account” Fund. The deputy chairman of “Millennium Challenge” corporation Maureen Harrington mentioned that the successes in the implementation of the preliminary programme will be a good argument in favour of Fund’s full assistance, which will offer many advantaged to Moldova, including a positive signal to investors. One month ago, the Board of MCC selected Moldova, Ukraine and Jordan to join the 22 countries that are eligible for Fund’s assistance. The Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) is a United States government-owned corporation responsible for the stewardship of the Millennium Challenge Account.
