The Parliament’s committee for agriculture and food industry approved the amendments proposed to the law on the fabrication and circulation of ethyl alcohol and alcoholic beverages with the aim of excluding disloyal competition from the alcoholic drinks industry. One of the main provisions of the bill introduces basic notions, such as low-alcohol drink and drink with a reduced content of alcohol. The bill sponsors said this modification is needed as currently these categories of products that are consumed primarily by young people are not regulated by the national legislation, IPN reports.
The bill introduces the obligation to present the fabrication and circulation declaration that will contain data for each category of products, about the stock at the beginning of the year, production, sale and stock at the end of the year. The data will be used to work out sector development forecasts.
The draft law also excludes the obligation to use the dispersion cap when bottling alcoholic drinks in a move to ensure competitiveness on the market given that such a practice is not applied in other countries.
The bill is to be submitted to Parliament for consideration.
