The Ambassador of France Gerard Guillonneau has completed his duties in Moldova. On this occasion, the official had a meeting with President Nicolae Timofti, where he welcomed the signing of the Association Agreement between Moldova and the European Union, IPN reports, quoting the presidential press service.

“The Republic of Moldova, by its culture and history, has European vocation. For the state institutions to meet the requirements of the European Union, the Moldovan authorities must do the justice reform, fight corruption and implement rural development projects. Such actions will always enjoy the support of France,” said the diplomat.

Nicolae Timofti described the bilateral relations as excellent, thanking the ambassador for his efforts to strengthen the Moldovan-French cooperation in all the areas. “There are many preconditions for further developing a sustainable partnership. We are two countries that share the European values and the values of the Francophonie,” said the head of state.

Gerard Guillonneau was named Ambassador to Moldova in 2011.
