Nearly all the polling stations established outside the country got by 5,000 ballots, which is the highest number of ballots allowed by law, acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi, acting minister of foreign affairs and European integration, stated in a news conference.

A number lower than 5,000 ballots was distributed to only several embassies of Moldova, where there are fewer Moldovans, namely those in Japan, China, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar.

Aureliu Ciocoi called on the citizens to verify the information about polling stations by using official sources, such as the websites of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova, embassies, the Central Election Commission of Chisinau.

Asked what he thinks about the Appeals Court’s decision that the number of polling stations in the Transnistrian region should be reduced, Aureliu Ciocoi said the argued decision of the court hasn’t been yet issued, while the CEC announced that it will challenge the given decision in the Supreme Court of Justice. It’s clear that the Constitution should be obeyed. This provides that each citizen of the Republic of Moldova has the right to vote regardless of the place of stay.

CEC secretary Maxim Lebedinschi told the same news conference that the person who will try to vote for several times on July 11 will be identified immediately by the state automated system Alegeri (Elections). Such an act is classed as an offense.

Polling stations on July 11 work from 7am until 9pm.
