There should be a dialog between the opposition and the government, while the justice sector reform should have been debated on a broader platform, said political commentator Alexei Tulbure, according to whom the ruling party fully isolated itself from the rest of the political class and the most important decisions are taken non-transparently, IPN reports.

Commentator Alexei Tulbure said the justice sector reform should have been the subject around which the PAS could have united the whole society and the political class. The extraordinary assessment of judges and prosecutors should have started only as a result of a broad consensus in society.

“The PAS should have realized that the management of a country is common work to which everyone contributes, starting from the government, the opposition and civil society. A dialogue between the government and the opposition is necessary. A higher number of people need to take part in discussions. The justice sector reform should have been debated on a common platform. I consider the pubic reputation of the persons should have been taken into account in the process of selecting prosecutors,” Alexei Tulbure stated in the program “Reflection Points” on Vocea Basarabiei TV channel.

The commentator criticized the situation around the contest for the post of chief of the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS), saying some of the persons shouldn’t have been put even on the list of potential candidates.

“The PCCOCS should be headed by a person free from any suspicions. Eugen Rurac worked with Viorel Morari, while Morari is the symbol of corruption in the prosecution service. Rurac fabricated cases against Luchinski junior. Rurac was seen in a car worth €100,000 - an officer who fights corruption at the NAC with a car he cannot buy even after serving for the state for 100 years. But he worked for state institutions all his life. This is the reputation of Eugen Rurac. He shouldn’t have been even admitted to the contest. This happens in a year and a half of the replacement of the government. We thought that these practices remained in the past, but they are present. The people’s perception is that nothing has changed. The citizens do not see palpable changes. These are probably somewhere at legislative level,” stated Alexei Tulbure.

The contest to fill the post of PCCOCS was annulled after the members of the commission for the pre-selection of candidates resigned, while one of the candidates – Eugen Rurac – withdrew from the competition.
