Alexei Sankov is second Moldovan who qualified for 2016 Olympics

Swimmer Alexei Sankov became the second Moldovan sportsman who has qualified for the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games of 2016, after athlete Roman Prodius, IPN reports.

Sankov won this right after he finished the 1 500 me freestyle race in 15 minutes and 38 seconds at the international tournament in Prague. This result enabled him to climb on the second position of the winner’s rostrum.

Alexandra Vinichenko won the 200 m breaststroke race with 2 minutes and 35 seconds, but she failed to qualify for the 2016 Olympics. Instead, she will compete in the first edition of the European Sports Games in Baku on June 12-28.

In Prague, Tatiana Salcutan fished third in the 100 m breaststroke race.

The tournament in the Czech Republic brought together 600 athletes from 10 countries.
