MP of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” Alexandru Slusari said the United States’ decision to make Vladimir Plahotniuc ineligible for visas to the U.S. will contribute to the inclusion of the former leader of the Democratic Party of Moldova into the Interpol database as wanted. He noted the U.S.’s announcement is also a message for the development partners of the Republic of Moldova and more countries could thus follow the example of the United States, IPN reports.

“I don’t know the situation at the Interpol, if Vladimir Plahotniuc was put on the wanted list by Interpol or not... They said an application was filed, but we didn’t see this and do not know the reaction. If he wasn’t included in the database until now, I think this message can help make such a move. In general, this is a signal for the foreign partners that this person is undesirable,” Alexandru Slusari stated in the program “Black box” on TV8 channel.

MP of the Action and Solidarity Party Vladimir Bolea said the message transmitted by the U.S. is very important for the Moldovan justice system and confirms the fact that the things started by the Government led by Maia Sandu were correct and should be continued. An attempt to re-capture the state institutions is made in Moldova and the United States’ message shapes the future of those who make such an attempt. The statement issued by Michael Pompeo could be intended for President Igor Dodon.

On January 13, former Moldovan official Vladimir Plahotniuc was designated publicly due to involvement in significant corruption and is ineligible for visas to the United States, says a statement by Secretary of State Michael Pompeo.
