Alexandru Burca will compete for the bronze medal with Hungary’s Mihaly Nagy in a match at the European Wrestling Championships held in Russia, IPN reports.
In the 79 kg weight class, Burca started the competition with a defeat to Martin Obst. However, given that the German athlete reached the final, the Moldovan wrestler was allowed to take part in playoffs, where he beat Estonia’s Jevgeni Soltruk 10-1.
In the women’s competition, Iulia Leorda lost to Poland’s Katarzyna Krawczyk and was eliminated from the championships.
