Alexandra Emilianov wins gold at European U20 Championships

Athlete Alexandra Emilianov became a European Under-20 champion in discus throw. At the European Athletics U20 Championships held in Italy’s Grosseto, she achieved the result of 56.38 meters, being followed by Poland’s Karolina Urban and Kristina Rakocevic of Montenegro, IPN reports.

At the European Junior Championships in Tbilisi last year, Emilianov won gold in weight throw. In 2015, she became world junior champion in discus throw. Alexandra is the daughter of Ivan Emilianov, who last year represented Moldova at the Olympic Games for the fourth time, in Rio.

Alexei Oleinic didn’t manage to mount the winner’s rostrum in javelin throw again at the European Junior Championships. After he won silver in Tbilisi last year, this year the athlete from Tiraspol finished ninth with the result of 68.55 meters. In the same event, Denis Picus ranked 11th.

In the triple jump, Anastasia Calinina finished eighth, while in hammer throw Dan Morari and Nichita Petrov failed to qualify for the final.
