Members of the Communist Party of Moldova this morning laid flowers at the bust of Russian writer Alexandr Pushkin, situated on the Classical Writers Alley in the central park of Chisinau, on the occasion of the 215th anniversary of the poet’s birth, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué of the party.

“The merit of the great author cannot be estimated as he is the founder of the Russian literary language and his works will always be important for many peoples, including the Moldovans,” said the Communist leader Vladimir Voronin.

Alexandr Pushkin lived in Moldova from September 1820 until August 1823. In the period, he had written over 160 literary works.
