The former candidate for mayor of the municipality of Bălți Alexandr Nesterovschi is to become a member of the parliamentary group of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists after Svetlana Căpățînă died, vacating the seat, IPN reports.
Under the legislation, the vacant seat is occupied by the next substitute candidate on the list of the electoral bloc. The Central Election Commission during five days is to examine the candidate and to request the Constitutional Court to validate the seat.
During ten days of the day the seat of MP is declared vacant, the Constitutional Court will validate the seat for the next candidate.
Alexandr Nesterovschi also sat in Parliament after the elections of 2014, being elected on the ticket of the Party of Socialists. He ran in the local mayoral elections in the municipality of Bălți, but withdrew his candidacy, arguing the elections were compromised and didn’t have any moral, political and legal legitimacy. He was to compete in the runoffs against Nicolae Grigorișin after Marina Tauber was excluded from the race, while the next ranked candidate Boris Marcoci abandoned the competition.
