Independent candidate for President Alexandr Kalinin submitted the documents needed for having the initiative group for supporting him registered to the Central Election Commission (CEC). The Commission is to take a decision as to the registration within three days, IPN reports.
On September 3, the CEC rejected the documents filed by Alexandr Kalinin for the reason that the procedure for designating him as an applicant for the office of President and for creating the initiative group wasn’t performed in accordance with the law.
The same day, for the same reasons, the CEC rejected the application to register the initiative group in support of independent candidate for President Ion Costaș. Contacted by IPN for a comment, Ion Costaș said he will not give up and will most probably submit againt the documents next Monday.
The documents for registering initiative groups in support of candidates for President of the Republic of Moldova can be presented until September 11, 2020.
