Albita customs officers seize cigarettes worth EUR 350,000

Border officers in Albita, Vaslui county, have seized a batch of cigarettes that marked a 2-year record for this customs point. The officers found 250,000 packages of cigarettes hidden in a truck, which was heading to Slovakia on Monday, the Romanian media reports, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
According to the Border Police, the cigarettes worth EUR 350 thousand were to be sold on the black market of Slovakia. The truck was driven by the Romanian citizen Andreas Jeno Chordas aged 39 from Salonta, Bihor county. He presented papers only for a batch worth USD 12,480.
The policemen have closely checked the truck and found on the exterior sides of the truck several boxes with cigarettes produced under the license of Moldova.
The driver of the truck said he did not know anything about the cigarettes. However he was fined ROL 8 thousand and the cigarettes were confiscated.
At the same time, the Romanian citizen is investigated by the border police because he did not present the necessary documents for export operations with cigarettes.
