Ala Nemerenko, ex-minister of health in the Government led by Maia Sandu, said that serious violations were committed in the recent acquisition of 168 ambulances, including related to specifications, standards, purchase price and procedure. Furthermore, the quality of vehicles leaves much to be desired.

According to Ala Nemerenco, the only participant in the tender contest became the winner even if nine companies bought the tender documents. There were no objections to the vehicles, but the group of experts had a lot of objections to the equipment. The procurement procedure itself was incorrect as the specifications were changed on the way, but this is banned,” the former minister was quoted by IPN as saying in the program “Daily Live”.

She noted President Igor Dodon’s announcement concerning the purchase of 168 de ambulances was made in the context of the upcoming presidential elections. “The President has no business with the health system. The current year is an electoral one. Igor Dodon misses no occasion to show what “father” our country has. The Head of State indeed has nothing to do with the ambulances,” said Ala Nemerenco.

This January, President Igor Dodon announced that 168 new ambulances will be delivered to Moldova during the next few months and will be distributed to health facilities in districts. The ambulances were bought with a loan provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
