Airwards for athletes who medalled at Weightlifting Championships and European Games

The Moldovan athletes who medalled at the European Games of Krakow-Malopolska and at the European Weightlifting Championships held in Chisinau and also their coaches were awarded for their accomplishments and perseverance, IPN reports.

The Ministry of Education and Research said the total value of the awards for the national squad at the European Games in Poland is 1.484 million lei. In those competitions, Sergey Tarnovschi won a bronze medal, while Artiom Livădari won gold. This is for the first time that Moldova wins gold at this European championship.

The athletes who medalled at the European Weightlifting Championships will receive money awards totaling 86,250 lei.

“We proved that we are part of a large European sports family and that we lay emphasis on accomplishments, work and dedication. The Ministry of Education and Research will continue supporting the athletes and coaches by offering scholarships and creating appropriate conditions for training and also by supporting their participation in European and world competitions,” said Minister Anatolie Topală

In June, other professional athletes received money awards to the value of about 4.5 million le. Since the start of this year, the Moldovan athletes have won 262 medals in all the age categories, 188 medals in non-Olympic events and 74 medals in Olympic events.

Moldova also has an Olympic quota for competing at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics. The first qualification for Moldova was obtained by Emeritus Master of Sports Dan Olaru in archery.
