Air Moldova committed a number of violations in the reimbursement of money for tickets to cancelled flights. Among the violations is the non-observance of the repayment period. Under the law, the whole price of ticket at the purchase price is paid back within seven days, not 30 days as the operator did, said the Civil Aviation Authority that carried out an unplanned state inspection, IPN reports.

“The affected passengers weren’t informed in written form (including in electronic form) about the norms of compensation and assistance in accordance with the Regulations. Also, the passengers weren’t informed in written form about the coordinates of the Civil Aviation Authority,” it is said in a press release of the institution.

Violations were also committed in the servicing of passengers, such as meals and drinks directly proportional to the waiting time, hotel accommodation, transportation from the airport and the accommodation place.

As a result, Air Moldova was obliged to fully refund the money for the bought tickets to all the applicant passengers who were affected by the cancellation of flights during April 21-25, 2023 by May 2 and to inform in written form (including electronic form) all the passengers affected by the cancelation of 46 flights during April 21-25, 2023 by specifying the compensation and assistance norms in accordance with the Regulations and the coordinates of the Civil Aviation Authority within 24 hours.

The Civil Aviation Authority noted that the passengers can ask for the equivalent value of tickets and can ask for compensation that varies between €250 and €400, depending on the destination.

All the passengers affected by the cancellation of flights can file an application to the airline (by email, telephone, office at 10 Negruzzi St). If the situation is not solved, the consumers can submit a complaint to the Civil Aviation Authority.
