The U.S. Embassy in Moldova donated an air-fluidized bed for treating patients with serious burns to the Burns Center of the Chisinau Traumatology and Orthopedics Clinical Hospital. This bed is one of the kind in Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Air-fluidized beds are an important and proven therapy for pressure sores. Air-fluidized bed therapy is believed to eliminate shear and friction, reduce bacterial growth and pain, and increase comfort,” said Minister of Health Andrei Usatyi. U.S. Ambassador in Chisinau Asif Chaudhry said the donated medical equipment forms part of the U.S. assistance intended for Moldova. “When a country follows the path to democracy, we want to contribute to its development. This bed will help the medical personnel to provide services of a high quality,” said the diplomat. The Hospital’s head Nicolae Mihul said the Moldovan doctors had waited for an air-fluidized bed that permits quicker healing for ten years.
