The leaders of the ruling parties should have taken more actions and more important steps to overcome this spring’s political crisis. During this crisis, the government coalition became a real institution, while its agreement inspires a positive feeling that those who accumulated negative experience ultimately understood that things should be arranged so as to avoid similar crisis, Igor Botan, director of the Association for Participatory Democracy ADEPT, said in the public debate “Lessons learned and lessons to be learned. Overcoming and prevention of political crises: role of the political class and society - 1” that was staged by IPN News Agency.

Igor Botan considers that the latest political crisis experienced by Moldova was solved in an European style as the party leaders stepped aside and put into focus the persons who took over, who are trusted by the people and can successfully implement the European Integration projects.

The ADEPT director considers that the viability of the Pro-European Coalition depends on the current government’s fear that the Communists may return to power. Moldovan society is doomed to have a coalition government from now on as it is deeply fragmented and the politicians exploit people’s feelings. “The good part is that the representatives of these segments are imposed to form coalitions in order to govern. It is normal. In time these fragments will join and society will be more cohesive,” said the political analyst.

Igor Botan stated that the current political parties of Moldova are managerial teams and it is important for these teams be administered so that the country does not slow the speed of the European integration processes. The agreement of the Pro-European Coalition is a very good sample and a good start for relatively friable foundations of coalition governments.

The 19th public debate “Lessons learned and lessons to be learned. Overcoming and prevention of political crises: role of the political class and society - 1” of the series “Development of political culture by public debates” was organized with support from the German foundation “Hanns Siedel”.
