The Eiffel railway bridge in Ungheni, built by the great Frenchman who erected and gave his name to the Tower that became the symbol of Paris, but also of Europe, will be joined by the Ungheni – Ungheni ensemble of bridges over the Prut, which will be constructed by the company NESS PROIECT EUROPE SRL, IPN reports, with reference to profit.ro.

Cristian Pistol, director of the National Company for Road Infrastructure Administration (CNAIR), informed about the selection of the constructor, specifying that the road workers have 151.68 million lei and 24 months available for the construction of bridges, the road of connection with the A8 Highway and the border crossing point.

The CNAIR director said that, through the contract financed from Non-Reimbursable European Funds (CEF), a new road connection will be ensured between Romania (Iasi county) and the Republic of Moldova (Ungheni district), News.ro also writes. The bridges (one for each traffic flow direction) will have a minimum length of 261.20 m (each). The contract can be signed after the expiry of the period for submitting eventual appeals, respectively, after their resolution.

IPN reported that the Republic of Moldova is anchored in the European plans for the modernization of transport infrastructure. In particular, the authorities in Chisinau have announced the route of the first highway in Moldova, which will connect the cities of Iasi, Ungheni, Chisinau and Odessa.

The Prut Highway project will consist of two stages — the first from Ungheni to Chisinau, and the second — from Chisinau to the south-east of the country. The section from Ungheni to Chisinau will ensure connection with the Romanian highway network, especially with the A8 highway, which will connect Târgul-Mureş to Iasi and Ungheni, but which has not yet entered the field works phase, and from Iasi - with the A7 highway, which is under construction. The highway will also include as a highway the new bridge that is to be built over the Prut River in Ungheni.
