The National University of Theatre and Film “I.L. Caragiale” of Bucharest (UNATC) continues this year the project “Adventure without border. Education through theatre and film” in the Republic of Moldova. The project starts on April 28 with a conference entitled “Education through theatrical and cinematographic arts” at the “Class of the Future” Center of the State Teacher Training University “Ion Creangă” in Chisinau, which will be attended by dozens of specialists, officials and other interested persons, IPN reports.
The project will consist of workshops, training and personal development courses, which will be staged until October, when the project closing conference will be held and a volume about this effort with a significant impact on education and culture in the Republic of Moldova will be launched.
The initiative is funded by the Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova of the Romanian Government. Based on the deep cultural, historical and linguistic links between Romania and the Republic of Moldova, the project initiated by UNATC strengthens the Romanian community on both banks of the Prut River by discovering, raising awareness and using the skills of the young generation.
“This rebuilding of the foundations of the new generation is extremely important. Even the change of mentality, the challenge of opening up for new horizons and activation of one’s own capabilities, for a fantastic contribution to the future society, are based on them,” said the rector of the National University of Theatre and Film “I.L. Caragiale” of Bucharest Liviu Lucaci.
The objectives of the project “Adventure without border. Education through theatre and film” can be achieved through methods used in the field of theatre and film, along with the support of teachers and psychologists. The start of this process was given in the autumn of 2022, when UNATC launched the project “UNATC Caravan and Education through Theatre in the Republic of Moldova”, which was followed in 2023 by “Education without borders. Theatre and film for the big and the small” - a project funded by the Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova.
“This year, this successful initiative will continue by developing a body that will enable theatre and performing arts professionals to become trainers and get involved in the education and training of young people in the Republic of Moldova,” reads a press release.
