After starting his new job on July 17, Interior Minister Adrian Efros presented a set of actions “with immediate effect” that he believes will have “a direct impact on the safety and quality of peoples’ lives”.

One action is the resumption of the “White Nights” campaign, which aims to make road traffic participants more responsible, and which also involves more frequent patrols in leisure and residential areas, especially on days off. Another action will seek to crack down on illegal street racing. A third priority of Adrian Efros will be to fight with corruption and increase people’s trust in the police.

Efros declared that all the actions will be guided by three principles: order, discipline and coordination. “Their implementation will result in the transformation of interior agents into role models”

Further, Efros wants to reduce the average incident response time to 15 minutes. “It’s not only about getting to the scene quickly “We also need to think about the protection of both the victims and the responders”. The teams should ensure a good coverage of the national territory and support each other when needed, added the minister.

According to Efros, “European Moldova” is a national goal, and the Ministry of the Interior is at the center of this process. In autumn, the Ministry expects to sign an agreement to participate in the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, a cornerstone in the cooperation with the EU and another step towards joining “the big European family”.

Alongside Education Minister Dan Perciun and Infrastructure Minister Andrei Spînu, Adrian Efros joined the Recean Cabinet on July 17 in the latest reshuffle.
