At the beginning of the school year, 20,000 pupils from the Republic of Moldova will benefit from school supplies provided by the Romanian Government. The announcement was made by the State Secretary of the Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova Adrian Dupu. According to the Romanian official, through this gesture Romania aims to support the students in Moldova and cultivate their love for school, IPN notes.
Adrian Dupu described the relationship between the two Romanian states as very good, noting that the central and local authorities in Romania and Moldova have never had such close and prodigious cooperation.
“The relationship between Romania and the Republic of Moldova is at one of the highest levels. I think we were closer only in 1918. The relationship is very good at all levels. More and more mayor’s offices are implementing projects together with twinned municipalities of Romania. And not only mayor’s offices, but also educational institutions, universities, schools, libraries. At governmental level, all the ministries in Romania cooperate with their counterparts in the Republic of Moldova. At Parliament level, the committees meet. I don’t think there was a period during these over 30 years when we cooperated so well at every level,” said Adrian Dupu stated the talk show “Emphasis on Today” on TVR Moldova channel.
The State Secretary of the Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova said that the “School Box” project will continue this year too. Thanks to the support of the Romanian Government, thousands of pupils from the Republic of Moldova will benefit from school supplies.
“The project through which we support students at the beginning of the school year with school supplies is important. We started with 1,000 students. This year we will have 20,000 students to whom we will give school supply kits at the beginning of the school year. I go with joy at the beginning of the school year through the villages and localities of the Republic of Moldova where I see the little ones feeling the joy of the beginning and I’m glad that at the beginning of the school year, we can give them a little help. Especially since there are many who would not afford what we offer them. In this way, we show them from an early age how important education is and, secondly, that Romania supports them,” said the State Secretary of the Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova of the Romanian Government.
At the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year, about 10,000 pupils of 56 schools in the Republic of Moldova received an educational kit consisting of backpack, school supplies and books.
