The article forms part of IPN’s information campaign that presents biographical data, information about the incomes and property and professional experience of candidates for mayor general of the municipality of Chisinau.

Adrian Albu contends for the mayoralty of Chisinau on behalf of the Party of Socialists where ex-President Igor Dodon serves as executive secretary.

He was born on April 29, 1983 in the municipality of Chisinau. He is married and has two children. In 2005, Adrian Albu graduated from the Faculty of Law of the Moldova State University, while in 2007 completed a master of economic law at the same University.

In 2008-2009, he worked as an inspector at the Center for Combating Economic Crime and Corruptions (CCECC), currently the National Anticorruption Center. He was in charge of the examination of documents for identifying economic illegalities and of the prevention and combating of acts of corruption.

Since 2009 until 2011, he served as operational sector head at the Customs Service, being also responsible for identifying and preventing illegalities. In 2011, he returned to the CCECC where he worked as an inspector until 2013. In 2016-2019, he worked as an adviser to the head of the parliamentary group of the Party of Socialists. Since 2019 until 2021, he held the post of the Parliament’s secretary general, while in 2022 entered Parliament as a substitute candidate on the list of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists.

For 2022, Adrian Albu declared over 178,000 salaries from Parliament. His wife declared over 118,000 lei earnings from Solidarity Fund PL and about €700 for expertise services offered to the public association “Rural Communists Development Network”. The candidate earned US$8,800 based on a lease agreement and benefitted from an allowance of 28,000 lei and over 89,000 lei in compensatory payments from Parliament. His wife collected over 366,000 lei allowances from the National House of Social Insurance.

The MP possesses a lot purchased in 2020 for over 70,000 lei and another lot bought in 2022 for about 2,600 lei. In 2022, he also acquired a garage that is 17 square meters for €5,000.

The family possesses three apartments and a house. An apartment of 130 square meters was bought by his wife in 2020 for 1.2 million lei. Adrian Albu in 2017 purchased an apartment of over 78 square meters for almost 952,000 lei. Another apartment, of almost 90 square meters, was acquired in 2022 for over €76,000. The same year, the candidate bought a house of over 85 square meters for over 173,000 lei.

In 2022, the Socialist also bought two more facilities, of over 53 square meters and of about 17 square meters, for almost 67,000 lei and for 7,500 lei respectively.

Since 2018, the family has possessed a car bought for 526,000 lei. The MP’s wife also owns a 33% holding in SRL “Pomi Group” and over 54,000 shares in SA “Agroprod”.

Last year, Adrian Albu benefitted from educational, training and professional formations services from the Theoretical Lyceum “Prometeu” to the value of over 60,000 lei.

When launching his election campaign, Adrian Albu promised a comfortable, green, inclusive and accessible capital city. He said that his team wants to continue the good and nice deeds started years ago in the municipality of Chisinau. He pledged to open kindergartens, playgrounds and sports grounds and to provide activities for older persons in each district. Among the priorities, the candidate mentioned the greening and laying out of the city, combating of traffic jams, optimization of the health and social protection systems, involvement of the citizens in decision making, etc.

As it was decided by draw, Adrian Albu of the Party of Socialists will be the tenth on the list of candidates on the ballot.
