The director, chief accountant and two managers of the branch no 11 of “Victoriabank” have been ousted from their jobs at the beginning of this year. As in case of robberies from banks, in case of cabinet reshuffles, the central leadership of the bank and the resigned persons do not give details about this subject. Asked to comment on the reasons for the entirely reorganisation of the branch’s administration, the former director of the branch nr. 11, Ecaterina Tcaci, refused to discuss with the reporter of Info-Prim Neo, mentioning that it is not necessary to make public this case. After asking the opinions of several officials from the bank, the secretary in the anteroom of “Victoria Bank” told Info-Prim Neo that the director of the branch no11 has resigned on her own initiative, giving no details about the information regarding the resignation of the other employees within the branch’s administration. Asked by Info-Prim Neo to what extent the customers of a bank’s branch can be affected by the resignation of the entire administration, and to what extent they must know this information in order to be able to protect their deposited money, the economist Veaceslav Ionita stated that the banks usually have two types of subordinated institutions: branches and branch offices. The difference between the two is that the branch has a higher level of autonomy, while the branch office can decide nothing. For instance, in case of loans, all the decisions are made by the branch or by the central bank. There are several reasons for which a bank’s administration can resign, Ionita says. One of them would be the analysis of the bank’s stage of development, including the annual turnover that shows the insignificant activity of a branch. Another problem could be the granted credits, if the central bank finds a high percent of credits unredeemed to the bank by the customers. This situation is called “bad crediting”, as a result of delays in paying interest rate and even redeeming the loans taken out. Explaining the situation, the economist offered the example of Banca de Economii, which has a larger number of branches compared to the number of branches of “Victoriabank”, saying that the leadership is annually changed in ten branches at least. According to the cited source, it is important that the customers understand that the reshuffles in a bank’s branch prove that the bank is functioning and everything is made to improve its financial situation. Moreover, the cabinet reshuffles in a branch should not impel its customers no longer to deposit money in this branch, as all the money deposits go directly to the central bank, the economist added. As regards the central administrations’ refuse to comment upon such cases, Veaceslav Ionita mentioned that in this situation, as in case of robberies, the banks evades giving details in order not to raise a negative influence on the part of the customers. The media coverage of such information brings to the banks financial damages larger than the real cause for which a branch’s administration has resigned, added Veaceslav Ionita, cited by Info-Prim Neo.
