The National Resistance Movement ACUM will mount a protest in front of the Ministry of the Interior entitled “Defend the people, not the usurpers!” on July 9, at 7:30am. The event was announced through social media, IPN reports.
The protesters will come together to tell the members of the police force that they are humiliated, insulted and used for evil goals. “During hot weather, they have to guard personal property of criminals and the head office of the PDM for hours, but they actually swore to protect the people and to defend their constitutional rights. They are actually forced to defend criminals and thieves who would have been jailed long ago in a state with the rule of law,” says the message disseminated by the ACUM Committee.
The message also says that the police officers who are mobilized in a large number at the protests mounted at the head office of the PDM and near the home of the PDM leader Vlad Plahotniuc violate clear provisions of Ethical and Deontological Code of the public functionaries with a special status of the Ministry of the Interior.
After the demonstration in front of the Ministry of the Interior, the protesters will go to the Chisinau City Hall to picket this during the weekly meeting of the municipal services.
The National Resistance Movement ACUM was created in reaction to the decision to invalidate the early mayoral elections held in Chisinau and has among its leaders heavyweights of the PAS, PPPDA, PLDM and active representatives of civil society.
