The second consecutive year, Moldova, alongside another about 100 countries, is staging different events to raise the authorities’ and people’s awareness of the necessity of improving the children’s access to education of a high quality. In Moldova, Global Action Week was opened by the Alliance of Active NGOs in Social Protection of the Child and Family on May 6, by an exhibition of social placards mounted in the square of the Monument to Ruler Stephan the Great in central Chisinau, IPN reports.

The Association’s head Stela Vasluian said that in 2000 the world’s leaders at the Dakar Forum made a series of promises intended to guarantee education for all by 2015 and undertook the Millennium Development Goals. “This is a moment when we take stock of the results and make new plans. How the next 15 years will look and what results will be achieved depend on the people and the governments,” she stated.

The agenda of the Global Action Week in Moldova includes presentations of communications about the personal educational experiences of six young people born in 2000, a news conference centering on the achievement of the objective of education for all in Moldova, and formulation of expert recommendations for the period after 2015.

Global Action Week is part of the project “Stimulation of the Inclusive Education Process in Moldova”, which is implemented by the Alliance of Active NGOs in Social Protection of the Child and Family, with the support of the Child, Community, Family Moldova.
