SA “Apă-Canal Chisinau” collects data from more than 4,000 consumers remotely, through smart water meters. The number of such meters has increased and is yet to be extended, said the supplier, enumerating a series of advantages generated by such a system for collecting and transmitting data, IPN reports.
According to ACC, the implementation of this remote water meter reading system has both economic and social benefits. This system enables to remotely read each installed meter, in any place - multistory buildings, industrial enterprises, offices, etc. An advantage is the possibility of integrating automatically the meter readings into the invoicing system, which facilitates the work of calculation engineers.
Among the advantages are also the optimization of the supplier’s operational costs by excluding inspectors, increasing of end-users’ trust, transparency of the system, swiftness, accurateness, elimination of the human factor by integrating the database into the information program used by the ACC, swift reporting of meter malfunctioning and of unjustified costs that represent losses with negative consequences for buildings, the public-private sector.
Smart water meters are now used in apartment buildings situated on the streets Dacia, Aeroportului, Haltei, Negrișteni etc.
In 2020, there was launched a pilot project to install ultrasonic water meters Qalcosonic W1 in apartments of residential buildings managed by housing sector managing enterprise No. 7. The data are transmitted by meters to a concentrator with a GSM card that, for its part, transmits the data to the server of SA “Apă-Canal Chisinau”, where the data can be seen and analyzed by a web application.
In 2021, the ACC plans to extend the pilot project so as to cover other housing sector managing enterprises, if the investment to purchase smart water meters is approved by the National Agency for Energy Regulation.
