IPN flow summary for November 19, 2019

Will he, nill he ...

During the meeting with Prime Minister Ion Chicu, the head of the EU Delegation to Moldova, Peter Michalko, stressed the need for the Government to continue reforms in the justice sector, including the selection of the Prosecutor General, the fight against corruption, ensuring democracy and the rule of law, the media freedom, and further investigation of the bank fraud. By the way, the new Minister of Justice Fadei Nagacevschi established that former minister committed a serious breach of law.

Should we understand that there will be less external assistance?

"We enjoy the support we receive from abroad, however, we must understand that the vast majority of revenues depends on how the economy works. In the third quarter, some developments, unfortunately, raise concerns," said the prime minister. Nonetheless, "all the social projects, which were announced on November 18, have financial coverage in the 2019 budget, except for salary raises."

Putting the cat among the pigeons

Chairman of the National Security, Defense and Public Order Commission of the Parliament, Chiril Moţpan, says that "purging the tax system of compromised persons failed dismally upon the appointment of Sergei Puscuţa as finance minister," who "in 2008 was dismissed from the position of director of the Center for Combating Economic Crimes and Corruption, and one of the reasons was the protection of illegal VAT refund schemes".

So what if even a child can see it...

The current situation with the dismissal of the Sandu Government and the investiture of the Chicu Government is due to the high stake of President Igor Dodon in gaining control over the Prosecutory General, which would give him personal comfort and ensure his second mandate as president, said economic expert Veaceslav Negruța in the public debates "Technocratic and minority government as a solution: advantages and risks", organized by the IPN Press Agency and Radio Moldova.

Yesterday it did not matter, but now it does?

Dignity and Truth Platform Political Party submitted to the General Prosecutor's Office a request to cancel the ordinance dated July 8, by which it refused to investigate the financing of the PSRM with sources from the Russian Federation. According to the recordings to which refers Andrei Nastase, the PSRM, a party led by Igor Dodon until he was elected president, has been funded by the Russian Federation with almost 700 thousand dollars a month.

Everyone with his own „gang”

According to Renato Usatîi, last week 16 Democratic MPs were ready to leave the PDM ranks in order to vote for the dismissal of the government led by Maia Sandu. "Eugen Nichiforciuc was the man who offered his colleagues 350 thousand euros to leave the party ranks," stated Renato Usatîi.
