Voters who on Election Day cannot to make it to the polling station, for health or other objective reasons, may request to vote at home by inviting a mobile unit. The request must be submitted in writing at the relevant polling station a fortnight before Election Day the earliest and until 6:00PM on the day preceding the election the latest. On Election Day, applications may still be submitted until 3:00PM, but only if a medical certificate is presented.
Applications must be submitted personally by the voters requesting the mobile ballot box. Those unable to do it for objective reasons, may ask a relative or a social worker to hand it in their stead. In addition to the application, the relative or the social worker will have to produce an ID for the person requesting the portable ballot box.
On Election Day, starting at 3:00PM, at least two members of the polling station will take the mobile ballot box and everything needed for casting a vote to the respective voters’ homes. They may be accompanied by observers, members of the media or a police officer if needed. Those voting with a mobile unit’s help will be registered in a supplementary electoral list. In the electoral roll, the name of the person concerned is marked as “Voted at the place of residence”.
People voting abroad may not request a mobile ballot box.
