A series of shopping centers situated in the capital city will not work on June 1, when the European Political Community Summit will take place, said Minister of Internal Affairs Ana Revenco.

According to the official, all the retail outlets, public eating places, drugstores, hospital and policlinics will work, but rather according to the weekend program. The managers of many of the malls decided to close these units for a day after having meetings with the authorities. Today, the Media Group for Security News (GMSS-CPE) said the commercial units that will not work on June 1 are: “Gemenii”, “Unic”, “MallDova”, the Central Market of Chisinau and the adjoining markets.

Also, Metro Cash & Carry No. 2 shop situated in Botanica district, close to the City’s Gates, will be open, but access to it will be possible from the adjoining street Pădurii.

In the central part of Chisinau, pedestrians will be able to move on sidewalks, except for the areas close to accommodation units that will host officials, where pedestrian traffic will be directed to the adjacent sidewalks. The pedestrians must take into account the police’s recommendations and comply with their requests. In particular, the crossing of the main arteries will be possible only under the control of traffic police, with stops when the official convoys will move.

On May 31, particular street sections will be closed to traffic for short periods of time in connection with the movement of official columns in Chisinau.

All the road border crossing points work as usual.

A number of 47 heads of state and government (27 EU members and 20 non-EU members) and also the Presidents of the European Council, the European Commission and the European Parliament were invited to the June 1 European Political Community Summit in Moldova. A part of the leaders announced that they will arrive in Chisinau on May 31.
