A number of fountains in the capital city have been turned on, namely those situated in the central park, in “Valea Trandafirilor” Park , on the Cascade’s Stair and in the square of the National Opera House “Maria Bieșu”.
The fountains in the square of the God’s Birth Cathedral will be switched on in the afternoon of July 18. Contacted by IPN for details, Green Areas Association head Sergey Carp said not all the nine fountains managed by them will be functional this year. The fountain in the Afghan Park of Râșcani district will start to be repaired soon and will probably work next year already.
About 2 million lei is annually allocated for maintaining the fountains, in particular for cleaning up the pools, ensuring the functionality of mechanisms and doing cosmetic repair works.
The municipal authorities plan to build modern fountains in the parks “Alunelul” and “La Izvor”, where the Buiucani district head’s office launched a number of infrastructure projects.
