The Founding Congress of a new political organization, National Liberal Party (PNL) took place in Chisinau on Saturday, December 16. According to its political programme, PNL is based on the liberal doctrine, combining principles of individual freedom and social solidarity. The party identifies its position in the political spectre as right winged with an asymmetry towards centre. PNL takes upon itself the role of a modern, responsible political force, founded on democratic order, the authority of law, interethnic peace and concern for the prosperity of Moldova’s citizens. In order to modernize Moldova’s economy, PNL considers as the most efficient the model of an organization of economy in conformity with the principles of free market. In this context, the party supports the inviolability of the private property, free circulation of goods, limitation of regulations and eliminating excessive bureaucracy. PNL pleads for the rapid and efficient movement on the EU accession path, even in the present situation, where the Transnistrian conflict is not yet solved. At the same time, the party believes that that the political regulation of the conflict depends directly on the progress achieved in the European integration process. The organization pleads for Moldova’s accession to NATO, as well as for the foundation of the Romania – Moldova Interstate Union, in the form of the acceleration mechanism for Moldova’s movement towards EU. The congress elected the MP Vitalia Pavlicenco as chairman of the party, and Anatol Taranu, Ion Iovcev and Octavian Grama as deputy chairmen.
