A violinist from Moldova will participate, alongside 99 other musicians, in a series of musical performances titled “Seven Epic Concerts” as part of the International Philharmonic Orchestra YPHIL. The concerts will take place in New York in September, around the time when the UN General Assembly will hold its 70th session, IPN learned from a YPHIL press release.

Lia Rusu

Violinist Lia Rusu has been selected from over 900 candidates representing 98 countries to become one of the 100 members (74 countries) of the International Philharmonic Orchestra. She joined the Orchestra of the National Opera and Ballet Theater “Maria Biesu” as an invited artist at the age of 17. In 2013 she won the First Prize of the National Competition of Young Composers.

Besides music, Lia Rusu is involved in social activities, including volunteer projects. She is a supporter of the START center for disabled people. “Music helps us to communicate, to understand each other. It unites each person around the World into a big family maintaining peace, love and friendship”, says the young musician.

The “Seven Epic Concerts” will be held during September 10-27 and each of them will be dedicated to a specific theme, such as young people's empowerment, support to 9/11 victims and heroes, or friendship among nations. The culminating concert will be dedicated to global peace and will be hosted by the famous Carnegie Hall. It will feature Jose Luis Gomez as conductor and violinist Alexander Markov, the winner of the Paganini international contest, as soloist. The host of the show will be Danny Glover, the actor best known for portraying the veteran black cop in the “Lethal Weapon” franchise.
