Middle school students will undergo thematic assessments in Romanian language and literature and mathematics, announces Minister Dan Perciun, cited by IPN. According to the official, the aim is to evaluate the real knowledge level of the students, to provide the ministry with a better understanding of the educational situation at the national level, and to give students a reflection on what they know and what they need to focus on.

The Minister of Education specified that such an experience has not occurred in recent years, which is why discussions have been held with school directors in collaboration with the National Agency for Curriculum and Assessment. "We proposed that they participate in such an exercise as pilot schools. We were pleased to see that there is a lot of interest in such an exercise. Its purpose is to help us at the ministry better understand the situation in the country, to assist directors in understanding the situation in their educational institutions, and for students to serve as a barometer of their actual knowledge through an external assessment," explained Dan Perciun.

IPN notes that over 6,000 ninth-grade students will receive free additional lessons in mathematics this academic year to prepare for their middle school graduation exams. The classes will be conducted in small groups of three to four children and will last a total of 30 to 40 hours. Additionally, the ministry announced that in 2025, national middle school graduation exams will be held in examination centers, similar to the baccalaureate.
