The Government approved on Wednesday 18 October the candidacy of the former head of the Division for administration of customs regimes and procedures, Viorel Melnic, for the position of vice minister of Economy and Commerce.
The position of vice minister remained vacant after the dismissal of the minister of Economy and Commerce Valeriu Lazar on 18 September and appointment of the ex vice minister Igor Dodon for this post.
Valeriu Lazar was dismissed through a presidential decree. The head of state claimed that his dismissal from the position of minister of Economy and Commerce was determined by the minister’s unsatisfactory activity, of a strategic importance for the development of the Republic of Moldova. The President mentioned the necessity of intensifying the activity of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) for carrying out of the programs and national strategies of social-economic profile.
In analysts’ opinion, the reshuffles in the MEC were generated by the unsatisfactory situation certified in the national economy and by the insufficient efforts to diversify the sale markets of Moldovan products.
