A book about the life of poet Mihai Eminescu was launched in Chisinau on Friday, June 14th, commemorating 130 years since the journalist and writer’s death. The book „Argus și slugile sale. Cei care au făcut să moară Eminescu " (Argus and his servants. Those who brought the end of Eminescu), whose author is the renowned poet and publisher Vadim Bacinschi, established in Odessa; was launched at the Writers' Union, without him present. Nevertheless, his contribution to the discovery of a part of the great poet’s life was highlighted, IPN reports.
Publicist Vasile Şoimaru, who helped Vadim Bacinschi’s book see light of day, said that , when writing the book, the author researched the archives in Odessa and those of medical institutions near Odessa, where the poet Mihai Eminescu had his last treatment. According to Vasile Șoimari, it has been almost four years since it was attempted to publish the book, but that had not possible until the project reached him. "He found, I don’t know how, that I could I help him, and I just couldn’t refuse," said Vasile Şoimaru.
Vasile Şoimaru said that many publishers in Romania refused to publish this book, but in the end it was possible to do this with the help of a Chisinau. "This book was supposed to run four years ago, for those who love Eminescu. Because those who hate him, they would have never wanted this book to see the light of day. A great envy is what put Eminescu in his grave, "said Vasile Şoimaru.
The writer Nicolae Rusu said that he read many books about the last years of Eminescu’s life and that he roughly knew about the time of the poet's death, of how he suffered. He liked Vadim Bacinschi’s book because the author made it plain, understood by the simplest reader, for them to find out what really happened to Mihai Eminescu and especially, how he died. "I learned in school that Titu Maiorescu was the one who protected Mihai Eminescu and helped him debut as a poet, that he supported him, but things were different actually, and it was namely Titu Maiorescu who helped others get rid of Mihai Eminescu" .
According to the minister of education, culture and research, Liliana Nicolaescu Onofrei, many moments of her student life are tied to the great poet. The Minister recalled that in 1988, in the central park in Chisinau, on the Alley of Classics, near the bust of Mihai Eminescu, 15-16 students, mostly studying philology, sang the poets lyrics. "That was a very special moment for me, and there began what was later the Mateevici literary circle," said Liliana Nicolaescu Onofrei.
The book was published in one thousand copies.
