99% of the votes cast in the capital city were counted manually and have not been yet included in the electronic system of the Central Election Commission, CEC president Iurie Ciocan said in a press briefing held at 11.00, Info-Prim Neo reports. Iurie Ciocan specified this when asked to explain the discrepancy between the 99% of the votes counted in the capital city, as the Chisinau District Electoral Council announced, and 43.33% of the votes counted in the municipality. The CEC president explained that the number of ballots is very large. In the suburbs, the voters had to put the stamp “Voted” on four ballots. “2,000 vote counting reports were processed in the parliamentary elections. In the local elections, the number of reports is thrice larger – 6,000,” said Iurie Ciocan. Asked if it is true that the counting of votes was interrupted at night, Ciocan said it is not. He added that they will make effort to make public all the preliminary results by the end of the day. With 43.33% of the votes counted in the municipality of Chisinau, Igor Dodon leads with 51.59% of the ballot. Dorin Chirtoaca polled 43.96% of the vote.
