99% of vote reports counted: Maia Sandu – 57.44%, Igor Dodon – 42.56%

With 99.39% of the vote reports from national polling stations counted, Maia Sandu is shown as the winner of the presidential elections. According to the preliminary data of the CEC, the PAS candidate won 57.44% of the ballot, while independent candidate Igor Dodon, who was supported by the Party of Socialists – 42.56%, IPN reports.

All the votes cast in the municipality of Chisinau have been counted. Maia Sandu gained 59.7% of the vote here, while Igor Dodon – 40.3%.

The votes cast at the 42 polling stations intended for voters residing in the Transnistrian region were divided as follows: Igor Dodon – 85.80%, while Maia Sandu – 14.2%. As many as 31,071 voters from the region marked their ballots there.

There were processed 126 vote reports of the 139 out-of-country polling stations. The PAS candidate won 92.8% of the poll there, while Igor Dodon – 7.2%.

The voter turnout in the presidential runoff was almost 53%, which is 1.645 million voters. Voting over the ocean goes on. The last polling stations close at 7am, Moldova’s time.
