As many as 828,000 ballots will be printed for the local runoffs that will be held in 273 localities, including the municipality of Balti, on November 19. For the elections that will be rerun in eight localities, 23,000 ballots will be printed, IPN reports.
The printing of ballots started on Monday at the Central Publishing House in Chisinau. The chairwoman of the Central Election Commission Angelica Caraman said that out of the 828,000 ballots, slightly over 637,000 will be in the Romanian language, while the others will be in Russian. The ballots are of standard size – 14 cm wide and almost 13 cm long – as the runoff vote involves only two candidates. Only in one locality, there is only one candidate.
A sum of 250,000 lei was allocated for printing the ballots.
