A number of 6,000 Moldovans have been banned from entering Russia so far this year, after the stricter rules for migrants came into force. In a news conference at IPN, the head of the Congress of the Moldovan Diaspora in Russia Alexandr Kalinin said the risk group includes over 240,000 citizens. The people from this group live in Russia illegally and do not leave the country for fear they will be unable to return.
In this connection, Alexandr Kalinin reiterated the conditions imposed by Russia for legal stays on its territory. Those who want to work in this country must get a work permit or a patent, depending on the period of work. Those who do not intend to work can stay in Russia for 90 days cumulatively during six months. If they violate the rules of stay, the migrants risk being banned from entering Russia for a period of three-four years.
The leader of the Congress of the Moldovan Diaspora in Russia said that every time they cross the border, the migrants must register with the migration services. Otherwise, they risk being unable to enter Russia. The persons who committed two administrative offenses, including nonobservance of the rules of stay and smoking in public places, face the same penalty.
According to the Federal Migration Service of Russia, more than 550,000 Moldovans are now on Russia’s territory.
