The Ministry of Agriculture ordered 600 antihail rockets that will be delivered in three weeks. Until then, the Ministry is to identity the financial resources needed for purchasing them. According to Minister of Agriculture Vasile Bumacov, the number of antihail rockets bought this year was larger than the previous years, but the reserve was already used up, IPN reports.
“The Ministry’s funds will be used to purchase rockets for August. We will examine possibilities of covering the rest of the costs and will prepare for the next year,” Vasile Bumacov said after the meeting of the Commission for Emergencies convened by Prime Minister Iurie Leanca.
The Premier’s spokeswoman Liliana Vitu said after the meeting that 36 settlements from 13 districts are still without electric power. “The settlements that were the worst-hit by the rain and hail will be provided with roof slates. This thing will be confirmed by a Government Decision on Wednesday. The reserve fund will be used to deal with the consequences of the natural disasters,” she stated.
The farmlands in the southern districts of Stefan Voda and Causeni were the most affected, mainly by hail.
