Six in ten Moldovans consider that the events taking place in the country go in the wrong direction. However, more than a half of the population would never leave Moldova. The data were presented by the Association of Sociologists and Demographers of Moldova, IPN reports.
19% of the Moldovans would go to settle in one of the Western countries, 13% would prefer a CIS country, while 12% would choose any other country.
The rise in the prices of food products and services worries most of the respondents (73%). The people are also concerned about poverty, the low salaries and pensions as well as about corruption among functionaries. One in four persons is preoccupied with the difficulty in finding a job or the possibility of losing it. The problem of unemployment is more topical among men than women.
13% of those polled are concerned about the mass migration, 11% about diseases and possible epidemics, 9% about the loss of Moldova’s independence, crime and violation of the human rights, while 8% about the blocking of Moldova’s exports to Russia.
Only 1% of those questioned consider themselves rich as they have everything they need and do no limit themselves in anything. 13% believe they are wealthy people, but cannot afford to buy luxury objects. 48% said they have to always economize, 23% do not have the basic necessities, 11% live at the poverty line, while 4% are very poor people.
The study was conducted between October 21 and November 2 on a sample of 1,192 people. The margin of sampling error is +/- 2.8%.
