5th edition of Modern Dance International Festival started in Chisinau

The 5th edition of the “Interactiune” Modern Dance International Festival and Workshop started September 5 in Chisinau. Many European countries participate in this year’s edition: Hungary, Romania, Germany, Sweden, Slovenia, Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, Bulgaria, Latvia, Estonia and the Republic of Moldova. According to the organizers, solo-dance, duet and video projects as well as theatre-dance performances will be presented in the festival. Workshops on learning modern dance and relaxing techniques including those based on improvisation and contact or Alexandre Technique. The choreograph, dancer and teacher Cosmin Manolescu from Romania will host a workshop about management in dance, Sybrig Dokter from Sweden will present a workshop dedicated to performance technique, Inna Aslamova from Belarus will teach the modern techniques in classical choreography and Angela Donii from Russia will host a workshop about contact improvisation. Another distinct characteristic of the festival is presenting foreign organizations and companies which have activities related to contemporary dance and contact improvisation, such as the Cultural Foundation Proiect DCM from Romania, Dance Agency TSEH from Russia, the Contemporary Dance Center “Other Dance” from Ukraine, Resource Center for Contemporary Dance from Bulgaria, the Union of Dancers from Estonia, the Dance Choreographs Association from Latvia etc. The festival will be organized in three different locations: the Center for Culture and Art “Ginta Latina” (Sfatul Tarii Street 18), National Army Museum (Tighina Street 47) and the French Alliance (Sfatul Tarii Street 18). At the French Alliance, projects, photography and video exhibitions will be presented, as well as the foreign dance association and companies. The workshops, projects and jams will take place at “Ginta Latina” and National Army Museum. Because this festival is also a laboratory-festival, not only professional dancers or teachers, but also all those who want to find more about the contemporary dance are invited. The Festival is organized by the Modern Dance Development Association from Moldova (ADDM) and European Cultural Foundation with the financial support of Soros Foundation – Moldova, Alliance Francaise de Moldavie, Swedish Institute. The partners of the festival are “Eugen Ionesco” Theatre, CCA “Ginta Latina” and “Space” Dance Theatre. The theatre will last 12 days and will end on September 16, 2006.
