59 persons and companies fined for irregularities in electronic communications sector

The National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology last year penalized 59 private individuals and legal entities for committing irregularities in the electronic communications sector, IPN reports.

Among those penalized are 17 persons who connected themselves or allowed to be connected illegally to the cable television networks. The fine oscillated between 1 500 and 4 500 lei.

A number of 28 providers of electronic communications networks and services were fined 6 000 to 12 000 lei for not respecting the general authorization conditions.

The Agency also imposed fines of 6 000 to 15 000 lei for performing electronic communications works without the consent of the owner of the land or another property or in the absence of a relevant court decision, for using radio channels/frequencies without a license and technical permit and for violating the rules of protecting the electronic communications lines and installations.

The fines totaled 169,500 lei. The payments are fully collected into the national public budget.
