A call for project proposals to the value of €40 million will be launched in the immediate period. The grant funding is intended for crossborder Romania-Moldova investments and will be provided within the EU-funded Interreg NEXT Romania-Republic of Moldova crossborder cooperation program 2021-2027 whose Supervisory Board approved the guidebook of the applicant for crossborder investment projects. Those interested will have four months at their disposal to submit applications for financing, IPN reports.
The Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration of Romania said the representatives of the two participating states came together for the second meeting of the Board to approve the criteria for providing financing for projects with an investment component (standard projects) and to decide how the projects selection and assessment process will be conducted.
Those interested can file projects referring to the rehabilitation, modernization and equipment of the education, healthcare and tourism infrastructure in the border counties of Romania (respectively Botosani, Iasi, Vaslui and Galați) and all over the Republic of Moldova. The projects aimed at fighting climate change and at preserving biodiversity in the areas covered by the program could also get European financing.
The Interreg NEXT Romania-Republic of Moldova crossborder cooperation program has a budget of €77.3 million in grant funding, plus the national contribution. The program covers the following areas: healthcare, education, tourism and culture, adjustment to climate change, biodiversity, good governance, and border management.
The Supervisory Board, which is the decisional body of the cooperation program, consists of representatives of the central and local public authorities of the two states and of NGOs active in the fields covered by the program.
