A 39-year-old man died on the sports field in Ciulucani village of Telenesti district after he was hit by a football goal that fell on him. Contacted by IPN for details, the press officer of the Telenesti Police Inspectorate Elena Băetrău said that it was preliminarily determined that everything happened during a football match. The man allegedly clung to the horizontal bar of the gate and, losing his balance, fell to the ground, and the gate fell on him.
“The 39-year-old man died by the time the ambulance arrived. Investigations are currently being carried out to clarify all the details related to the incident and to determine if there is any negligence on the part of the competent authorities,” said Elena Băetrău.
This is not the first time that football goals fell, including on children, injuring or killing them. In March 2023, such a case was fatal for a 15-year-old teenager from the capital city.
