Germany will support the Republic of Moldova with €33 million in grant funding for financing the Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund, IPN reports, with reference to a press release issued by the Embassy of Germany in Chisinau.

"The Fund helps to support the population in times of crisis. Through our contribution, we want to ensure affordable energy for vulnerable families and households, sending a signal of support for the people of Moldova," said German Ambassador to Moldova Margret Uebber.

This new commitment continues the German support provided in the winter season 2022-2023, when the German grant for the Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund helped 75% of all households in Moldova through energy subsidies.

"We are grateful to Germany for its constant assistance in helping Moldova face the energy challenges. The support provided through the Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund guarantees the protection of Moldovan families and advances our path towards energy security," said Prime Minister Dorin Recean.

Germany's new contribution of €33 million complements the European Union's recently announced support package.
