A man aged 30 from Chisinau is suspected of recruiting minors for sexual relations through social networking sites. In order to arrest him, the police needed the assistance of officers of the Security and Information Service, IPN reports.
According to the General Police Inspectorate, several months ago the parent of a minor informed the police that their boy was discussing with an individual through social networking sites for several days. The individual sent pictures of a sexual character to the boy and invited him to a meeting. The police managed to identify the man. It was established that he often traveled to different regions of the country to look for potential victims.
When the man was arrested, he had a telephone on him, which he used to contact the children and to organize meetings with them for sexual purposes. When questioned, he admitted that he earlier had sexual relations with a number of boys younger than 16. He is investigated for sexual perversion and faces three to seven years in jail. The police are taking steps to identify other victims of the sexual abuses committed by the man.
