The second round of the presidential election took place in a free manner, without major incidents. However, the police reported around 225 incidents, including the photographing of the ballot paper or the organized transportation of voters. For the first time, in the current presidential election, the authorities faced false bomb threats made against a number of polling stations and the bridge over the Nistru from Rybnitsa to Rezina, said the chairwoman of the Central Election Commission Angelica Caraman, quoted by IPN.

Angelica Caraman noted that most of the cases – 76 in number – were cases of photographing of the ballot paper. As a result, 31 reports were drawn up on these. Thirty were cases of prohibited political campaigning. In 26 cases, there is a reasonable suspicion of corruption of voters. At least 24 cases of organized transportation of voters were identified. Likewise, there were detected cases of violation of the right to vote, of damaging of the ballot paper, of unauthorized electoral display, etc.

"There were also other incidents. In Călărași, a stamp was damaged. In Balti, a stamp was lost. At a polling station in Anenii Noi a stamp was missing. The police were notified of these cases. More than 40 other documented cases concerned other violations of the electoral process. We also note the false bomb threats at polling stations in the country and abroad and on the bridge over the Nistru, from Rybnitsa to Rezina. Such situations were witnessed for the first time,” said Angelica Caraman.

According to preliminary data presented by the CEC, over 930,000 electors or 55.41% of the eligible citizens voted for Maia Sandu, and over 748,000 citizens voted for Alexandr Stoianoglo, which is 44.59%. The Electoral Code stipulates that the candidate who obtained most votes in the runoff vote is declared elected.
